Sea Chanteys evolved as a dynamic oral tradition; hence there are often many different ways to sing a popular song.  Surviving versions can differ in verse, chorus or presentation.  While this is a rich part of the Chantey tradition, singing “together” is also fun!  To this end, there are a wide variety of “song books” and collections in circulation.
